Chase and United are currently offering up to 60,000 bonus miles when you open up a new United MileagePlus Explorer Card, but getting this deal can be slightly tricky. You’ll earn 50,000 bonus miles after your first use of the card and another 10,000 miles after spending $25,000 in a calendar year. Your spending requirements, however, aren’t really the tricky part.
In order to get this deal, you’ll need to log into your United MileagePlus account. There should be an ad on your overview page for the Explorer card. If you don’t have any miles in your account, however, it will be for the default 40,000 mile offer. If this is the case, do not click on the ad. In order to see the 60,000 mile offer, you’ll need to somehow get at least 1 United mile into your account. This can be accomplished by transferring miles in, or any of the other typical mileage earning activities.
Unlike some older United/Continental offers, you do not need to have elite status in order to get this deal.
If you have miles in your account and still don’t see the 60,000 mile offer, you should try clearing your cache and reloading the page. While nearly everyone should be able to get the offer using this method, YMMV, as it appears that a few unlucky souls still cannot.
